Trek Overview

The Bhrigu Lake Trek is one of the most scenic high-altitude alpine lake treks in Himachal Pradesh. Located above the lush meadows of the Kullu Valley, this trek is famous for its vast grasslands that resemble the famous European landscapes. What makes this trek unique is how quickly you gain altitude—within just two days of trekking, you reach over 14,000 ft.

The lake is named after the revered sage Maharishi Bhrigu, who is believed to have meditated here. Even today, locals consider the lake sacred. Depending on the season, the lake changes its appearance—frozen and snow-covered in early summer, and crystal-clear with reflections of surrounding peaks during late summer and autumn.

Throughout the trek, you witness panoramic views of prominent Himalayan peaks such as Hanuman Tibba, Deo Tibba, and the Pir Panjal range. The combination of rolling meadows, snow patches, wildflowers, and mountain views makes Bhrigu Lake a perfect short Himalayan adventure for beginners as well as experienced trekkers.
