Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: HARIDWAR TO GOVINDGHAT VIA JOSHIMATH

• Drive Distance: ~300 km | Drive Duration: 10–11 hours
• Start early from Haridwar and drive along the Alaknanda River via
• Rishikesh, Devprayag, Rudraprayag, Karnaprayag, and Joshimath.
• Enjoy views of confluences of major rivers and mountain landscapes.
• Short halt at Joshimath for refreshments.
• Reach Govindghat by evening and check-in at a guesthouse.
• Altitude: Haridwar (314 m) to Govindghat (1,828 m)

Day 2: GOVINDGHAT TO GHANGARIA

• Trek Distance: ~10 km | Drive Distance: ~4 km (Govindghat to Pulna by vehicle)
• Short drive to Pulna, the trek starting point.
• Trek through a scenic trail along the Pushpawati River with waterfalls and lush greenery.
• Midway stop at Bhyundar village for refreshments.
• Reach Ghangaria (3,050 m) by afternoon; check into hotel/lodge.
• Rest and acclimatize for the next day’s valley trek.

Day 3: GHANGARIA TO VALLEY OF FLOWERS AND BACK

• Trek Distance: ~8 km one way | Total Trek: ~14–16 km
• Begin early morning trek to Valley of Flowers (3,658 m), a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
• Explore alpine flowers like blue poppies, Himalayan balsam, and more.
• Witness streams, glaciers, and meadows full of colors.
• Return to Ghangaria by late afternoon.
• Rest and overnight stay at Ghangaria.

Day 4: GHANGARIA TO HEMKUND SAHEB AND BACK

• Trek Distance: ~6 km one way | Total Trek: ~12 km
• Early morning steep ascent to Hemkund Sahib (4,329 m), one of the world’s highest Gurudwaras.
• Visit Hemkund Lake and Laxman Temple; witness Brahma Kamal flowers en route.
• Return carefully downhill to Ghangaria by afternoon.
• Rest and overnight stay.

Day 5: GHANGARIA TO GOVINDGHAT

• Trek Distance: ~10 km | Drive Distance: ~4 km (Pulna to Govindghat)
• Descend the same route back to Pulna.
• Optional stop at waterfalls or village cafés.
• Short drive from Pulna to Govindghat.
• Overnight stay at Govindghat.

Day 6: GOVINDGHAT TO HARIDWAR

• Drive Distance: ~300 km | Drive Duration: 10–11 hours
• Drive back the same scenic mountain route via Joshimath, Chamoli, and Rishikesh.
• Breaks at Devprayag or Rudraprayag for meals and river views.
• Reach Haridwar by late evening.
• End of the trek journey with unforgettable Himalayan memories.

Things to Carry

Essential Trekking Gear

• Backpack (50-60 Litres) – Comfortable with good support straps.
• Daypack (10-20 Litres) – For short hikes or during summit day (optional but handy).
• Trekking Shoes – Sturdy, waterproof, with good ankle support.
• Trekking Pole(s) – For balance and support on uneven terrain.
• Headlamp/Flashlight – With extra batteries.

Clothing (Layering is Key)

• Base Layer – 2-3 moisture-wicking t-shirts.
• Insulation Layer – 1-2 fleece or light woolen sweaters.
• Outer Layer – Down or padded jacket (must-have for cold nights).
• Rain Jacket/Poncho – Waterproof & windproof.
