Trek Overview
The Brahmatal Trek is one of the most beautiful winter treks in the Indian Himalayas. Located in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand, this trek is famous for its snow-covered trails, frozen alpine lakes, panoramic Himalayan views, and scenic forest walks.
During winter, the entire trail turns into a magical landscape with thick snow, oak and rhododendron forests, and frozen lakes like Bekaltal and Brahmatal. Unlike many winter treks where high altitude views are limited, Brahmatal offers magnificent views of some of the highest Himalayan peaks, including Mt. Trishul and Mt. Nanda Ghunti.
The trek begins from Lohajung village, a peaceful Himalayan hamlet surrounded by dense forests and mountain landscapes. The trail gradually climbs through beautiful forests and open meadows before reaching the stunning Brahmatal Lake, which remains frozen during peak winter.
One of the major highlights of this trek is reaching the Brahmatal summit viewpoint, where trekkers witness a breathtaking 360-degree view of the Himalayan ranges. The combination of snow trekking, frozen lakes, and incredible mountain views makes Brahmatal one of the best winter treks in India.
This trek is suitable for both beginners and experienced trekkers, making it a perfect Himalayan adventure for anyone looking to experience snow trekking.
